This is the VOA Special English Agriculture Report.

A study has warned (1)that seafood supply (2)from the world's ocean(3) could be almost gone by the middle of (4) the century.

The researcher(5) say there has already been a collapse(6) in wild population(7) of almost one-third of currently fish(8) seafoods. The study says that means their catches(9) has fallen by ninety percent from their highest levels.

Boris Worm of Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, led the international team that did(10) the study. Professor(11) Worm says spices(12) have recently been disappearing(13) from oceans at increasing speed(14). At this grade(15), he says, all seafood spices could collapsed(16) by two thousand forty-eight.

Other studies have also warned about(17) the dangers of over fishing(18) and the effect on (19) ocean environments. But not everyone thinks the oceans are likely to be empty(20) in fifty years. Some scientists said part(21) the world do have problems, but others are doing a good job of protecting(22) fish populations. Goverment officials(23) in several countries with large fishing industries also questioned the research.

The study appears early of this month(24) in Science magazine.

The researchers say damage(25) to oceans affect(26) not only fish populations but also the productivity(27) of equal system(28). These conflect(29) systems help control water quality(30). The scientists say the lots of(31) different kinds of sealife(32) appeared to increase the risk of fish kill(33) and beach closer(34) from harmful(35) algae growth.

The scientists examined(36) the results of thirty-two experiments and observed(37) forty-eight protected areas. They also looked at records of catches(38) worldwide. They studied records from the United Nations food and the Agriculture organization(39) for nineteen fifty to two thousand three.

And they examined archeological(40) information and other historical(41) records for twelve culture(42) areas. That research reach back(43) over a thousand years.

Boris Worm says the findings were, in his words(44), "beyond anything we should spected(45)." But he also said the situation is not to late to correct(46). He said that with good fish series(47) management, some species could completely recover(48) in three to ten years.

This is the VOA Special English Agriculture Report.

A study has warned (1) that seafood supplies (2) from the world's oceans (3) could be almost gone by the middle of (4) the century.

The researches (5) say there has already been a collapse (6) in wide population (7) of almost one-third of the common (8) seafoods. The study says that means their catch(9) has fallen by ninety percent from their highest levels.

Boris Worm of Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, led the international team that did (10) the study. Professor (11) Worm says species (12) have recently been disappearing (13) from oceans at increasing speed (14). At this rate (15), he says, all seafood species could collapse (16) by two thousand forty-eight.

Other studies have also warned about (17) the dangers of over-fishing (18) and the effects on (19) ocean environments. But not everyone thinks the oceans are likely to be emptied (20) in fifty years. Some scientists said parts (21) the world do have problems, but others are doing a good job of protecting (22) fish populations. Governmental factories (23) in several countries with large fishing industries also questioned the research.

The study appeared earlier this month (24) in Science magazine.

The researchers say damage (25) to oceans affects (26) not only fish populations but also the projectivity (27) of eco-systems (28). These complex (29) systems help control water quality (30). The scientists say the lost of (31) different kinds of sea lives (32) appeared to increase the risk of fish skill (33) and big collapse (34) from big (35) algae growth.

The scientists examined (36) the results of thirty-two experiments and observed (37) forty-eight protected areas. They also looked at records of catches (38) worldwide. They studied records from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (39) for nineteen fifty to two thousand three.

And they examined agricultural (40) information and other historical (41) records for twelve coastal (42) areas. That research reached back (43) over a thousand years.

Boris Worm says the findings were in his works (44), "beyond anything we suspected (45)." But he also said the situation is not too late to correct (46). He said that with good fishery (47) management, some species could completely recover (48) in three to ten years.
