Tôi mới gia nhập diễn đàn. Do công tác trong ngành Du lịch và "nhiều đêm đau khổ" với thue65t ngữ trong ngành đặc biệt là Lễ tân nên xin phép mởi thread này cùng trao đổi với mọi người về tiếng Anh cho ngành Lễ tân!

Theo Tôi thì có thể hiểu và dịch các bộ phận trên như sau:
1-- Front desk (quầy lễ tân): là quầy (desk) nằm tại tiền sảnh (lobby), trong đó các nhân viên lễ tân (receptionist) thực hiện công việc đón và đăng ký khách (check-in),...
2-- Reservation (bộ phận đặt phòng): với các nhân viên đặt phòng (reservation clerk hoặc reservation agent) nhận, quản lý các đặt phòng.
3-- Cashier (thu ngân): có thể đặt chung trong front desk, với các nhân viên thu ngân (cũng dùng Cashier), nhận thanh toán (payment) từ khách, cung cấp các dịch vụ (tôi tạm gọi) như Paid out, FCE (Foreign currency exchange),...
4-- Guest relation (Quan hệ khách hàng): cung cấp thông tin cho khách, giải quyết các phàn nàn (complaints) của khách,...
5-- Uniformed service (cái này tôi chưa biết dịch như thế nào!!!): bộ phận này gồm nhân viên mở của (Bell boy), nhân viên mang hành lý (Porter),...

Món này hiếm lắm dalathouse à! Tớ kiếm mãi mà chưa thấy! Tài liệu cứng (giấy) thì có nhiều lắm! Như English for International Tourism, International hotel english, Ready to order,... vô số kể. Trên mạng thì cũng nhiều nhưng chỉ là dạng Web cho từng bài một! Phải copy về rồi ghép lại!

Diễn đàn tiếng Anh mà viết toàn tiếng Việt thì hơi kỳ kỳ!!! Xin phép mình viết bằng tiếng Anh (toàn là tiếng bồi thôi!!!).

English for hospitality is similar to other fields! vocabulary, grammar,... The difference is vocabulary!

1. Front office (Lễ tân): like communication english! nothing to say!!!!

2. Cookery (bếp): bad thing! I think so! tool's names! many tools, eg: many many knifes, cookers,... with different size, type,... wow But it's not the worst! food names are fuzzy things! "Nhựa mận" (a dog dish) in English I don't know!

3. Bar & Restaurant (Bàn - Bar): simpler a bit from cookery! a waiter/waitress has to know name of dishes, how to make them and, with asian food, which soup with them!!! Cocktail's names are fuzzy things like food's names! "Hồng Trinh Nữ" = persimmon of virgin What is "Rau Muống" in English? What is "Gò Đen" in English?

4. Tour guide (Hướng dẫn): the worst! I think so! You're a guide and you guide a tour visit a religion place! (eg: Buddhistic pagoda). You have to explain the history of the pagoda (when did it build? who? why?), the religion meanings of statues, the architect of the pagoda,...

So, in my opinion, the most important is vocabulary! when I came to Korea for an ICT course! I regcornised the effect of cultural aspect in communication! eg: in korean language the structure of a sentence is: subject object verb! (vie, us, uk,...: subject verb object) so sometime, koreans say english in a hard-to-understand way to vie!

I don't know! maybe right, may be wrong!

Receptionist: I'm afraid we're totally booked for that weekend. There's a convention in town and we're the closest hotel to the convention centre.
Caller: Oh, I didn't realize. Well what about the weekend after that?
Receptionist: So... Friday the seventeenth?
Caller: Yes. Friday and Saturday.
Receptionist: It looks like we have a few vacancies left. We recommend that you make a reservation, though. It's still considered peak season then.
Caller: Okay. Do you have any rooms with two double beds? We're a family of four.
Receptionist: Yes, all of our rooms have two double beds. The rate for that weekend is $129 dollars a night.
Caller: That's reasonable. And do you have cots? One of my daughters might be bringing a friend.
Receptionist: We do, but we also charge an extra ten dollars per person for any family with over four people. The cot is free.
